![]() 80% of Single Women have Sent Themselves Flowers on Valentine’s Day: Poll
Miami Beach, FL (PRWEB) February 09, 2012 It’s hard being single on Valentine’s Day; watching coupled friends receiving flowers, chocolates and other gifts can leave any single green with envy. It’s especially hard being the only single girl at work not to receive a beautiful bouquet of Valentine’s Day roses. But how many of those women received flowers from an actual admirer? Leading online dating website, Date.com (http://www.date.com), surveyed thousands of single women, to find out whether or not they’ve ever invented a Valentine.
According to our poll results, more than 75% of single women admitted to inventing a faux Valentine. Of those women, 80% sent flowers to themselves on Valentine’s Day, while 13% bought boxes of chocolates and signed them from a made up beau or secret admirer. And the reason behind such a hoax? According to 65% of single women, it was simply to feel special.
“If you’re single on Valentine’s Day, it can be absolutely brutal, especially if you’re surrounded by happy couples giving and receiving gifts and celebrating their love,” said Shira Kallus, Relationship Advisor for Date.com. “Many single women will spend Valentine’s Day at a spa, will treat themselves to a massage, or get a mani/pedi to make themselves feel good. In similar fashion, sending flowers to oneself, or receiving gifts from an imaginary boyfriend, is an easy and inexpensive way to feel good about themselves, especially on a day that makes many singles feel depressed about not being in a loving relationship.”
Follows are the complete poll results:
Women: Have you ever invented a Valentine?
Yes: 75%
If you’ve invented a Valentine, did you ever send yourself gifts from a made up boyfriend?
Yes, flowers: 80%
Why would you make up a Valentine, or send yourself gifts?
To feel special: 65%

![]() Jewish Matchmakers Strike Again Proving Distance Can’t Stop Love: Engagement #631
New York, NY (PRWEB) November 01, 2011 Although long distance dating can pose challenges, long distance love and success does happen! Just ask Miriam and Shaya. Miriam Robbins of Wisconsin met her match Shaya Gutleizer of New York, through the matchmakers at Jewish Dating service SawYouAtSinai.com. The couple met online after the matchmakers (known as shadchanim) saw their online dating profiles and thought it would be a great idea. And indeed it was.
Miriam and Shaya had each faced different dating obstacles, before the help from SawYouAtSinai. With Miriam coming from small Jewish singles community Milwaukee, it was hard to meet anyone new, and SawYouAtSinai gave her the accessibility she needed. Shaya, on the other hand, comes from Brooklyn, where the large Jewish singles community can be overwhelming without someone to help select the best quality and most compatible matches for you.
SawYouAtSinai has unique matching technology to filter match suggestions, and it was then one of the service’s 350 dedicated Jewish matchmakers, Mrs Ariella Shmutter, that read Miriam and Shaya’s profiles and felt they would make the perfect match (shidduch). Proving how the matchmakers play a crucial role in the dating process, Ariella says, ‘Shaya was very hesitant to commit to a long distance match and was on the verge of saying no. I encouraged him to get in contact with Miriam on the off-chance that she was planning a trip to NY, and although she was not, they immediately clicked and made plans themselves to meet!’ It was SawYouAtSinai’s extensive database of singles, and the dedication and expertise of the matchmaker that led to this successful match.
Miriam and Shaya are the online Jewish dating service’s 631st engagement since the site began in December 2003.
